Everything is quite boring

^ Having had Motorola G recently, I think Sony's stock(ish) approach is far more inspiring and useful than Moto's. In many ways it feels like how stock Lollipop should have been. But look now, Android M has most of the Sony tweaks baked in already!

Which tweaks are these?

I dislike what Sony has done to some of the colours in stock LP and some or the irremovable bloat they've added like those quick apps in the task switcher.

Granted, not as bad as Samsung's or LG's bloat by far.

Proper volume profiles with rocker step-down as well as clickable icons in the volume toast, proper use of silent mode and the accompanying exceptions feature which supercedes priority mode on stock.

Screen recording baked in is seamless and the remote mounting of network shares and pc folders is excellent as it shows up as a drive on any file manager that can be used as storage space for whatever or streaming media.

A few other things too.

The only visual difference to stock is really the settings screen where there are icons that are coloured different.

As for bloat? There's literally no bloat. Whilst Small Apps in the task switcher cannot be removed, they are not bloat and I find them very useful. A popup browser window, calculator, currency converter, tip calculator, discount calculator among a few others I use and appreciate being there when needed. Going by reddit, seems many others do as well.

It sounds like I'm giving high praise to Sony all over and indeed, I am, but with good reason.

Yep some good stuff they've added deffo.

I class bloat as apps/services I don't want that can't be removed without root.

I also really like what they've done with LP... if only the task switcher didn't lag so much I'd be 100% happy with sonys software but maybe that'll be fixed with 5.1.1 when it eventually appears.

I'm actually interested in the Z4 tablet. But it doesn't seem to be available without the KB on amazon. A bit on the pricey side too but it is all round high end I guess.

£350 without KB and I'll bite.

Honestly the keyboard is great - its actually why I bought it! Yes its a lot of money but my laptop has barely been used since I got the tablet. If the mouse tracker pad lag didn't exist it'd be perfect imo as it is pretty annoying when editing excel sheets or word docs for work but its pros outweigh the cons.

For me the KB would be a waste as I won't make the most of it. But if it were included all in for £400 I would give it a try.

I'm really impressed at how thin and light they made the tab. Superb.

Small Apps can be removed actually. You don't even need root.

Oh actually yoo're right, I completely forgot. the same command that disabled the "What's New" until Sony saw right and removed it themselves from the Google now orb area :p

It is completely fixed in 5.1.1. You should update your phone to 5.1.1 as it's been out in the UK for a day now.

Im using a Huawei Ascend P1, waiting on the Xplay to come on moto maker then I will design and purchase one immediate, seems to have everything I need and hopefully will last another 2-3yrs just like this P1 has, but the p1 is now just too old and slow, I cannot imagine what a huge difference it will be to have such a nice phone and one that isnt so slow.
