More eBay woes :(

eBay great for buying stuff but crap for selling stuff due to all the cons. Gone are the days when I would sell something expensive and the buyer would send a cheque or even cash in the post.

I got to agree. given the amount of threads of late complaining about the scamming/problems etc it really is quite baffling how folks (and by that I mean those that read and post in these forums) continue to use ebay. either stop using the damn thing or just deal with it when it goes belly up. quit bellyaching! :p

Unfortunately when a case is opened against you, if you dont deal with it and answer it it will always go in favour of the other person.

Irrelevant that it actually did arrive and you can prove it now. The time to prove it was the 10 days the case was open waiting for a response from you.

Hopefully if the op contacts the buyer he might send the money again if he is honest.

you would have had emails stating that ebay buyer has opened a case. Its your own fault for not responding within the time scales. Who doesnt check their emails??

Yeah the timeline sucks, I only have myself to blame... But for me to go through the appeals procedure and eBay to say tough.

I have forwarded a signature that MyHermes have and have escalated it through to their Investigations Department-who knows what that'll bring!

PayPal have suspended the refund and have opened a case up, we'll see if they come up with anything...

The buyer is still saying he hasn't received the item :/

So you provided proof of delivery after the buyer has been refunded? Did you contact PayPal as soon as the case was opened against you? You should have provided proof of delivery as soon as the case was opened, it should have been an open and shut case. Case opened, you provide proof of delivery, PayPal closes case in your favour.

RING eBay, if you have a signature there is no way you should lose an appeal. Don't email them, don't go on live chat, ring them.

Check the buyers feedback that they have left for others, see if it looks suspicious. If they have left things like "Item received OK" then chances are they are not a scammer. If they've left feedback such as "AAA+++" for everything then message a few sellers and ask if they've had problems with the user in the past.

If other sellers confirm a problem then just confront the buyer and ask if they have had problems with post in the past as it really needs sorting if someone is stealing their post. They usually back down then.

If that fails and you are sure the buyer has the item and you don't want to write a letter yourself then just use something like this: https://www.debtguard.co.uk

Hope that helps.

I was on the phone to them horror wood. The guy I spoke to was a right moron so I spoke to the manager, he said there is nothing they can do as I should've responded in the allotted time... Yes I know this, I am now appealing the case though! He said its not a worthy reason to appeal their decision.

I did ask if he'd had any issues with regards to post going missing or being stolen. He has confirmed that things have gone missing in the past, seems a bizzare admission to make.
MyHermes have passed it onto their investigations team, hopefully they took a photo of the front of the house or something. I've seen it done.
