Is my thermal paste spreading alright

On a lot of coolers only the central part of the heatsink actually contacts the cpu and or is the only important part to be making contact, this is why you can get great results even with the tiniest amounts in the middle.

tested this paste twice now (kyronaut)

EK ecotherm is better by 2-3c

well disappointed.

next time ill defo be waiting for third party reviews

anyone ever done anything where two bits of perspex are bolted together with various methods of paste application tried?

Should be pretty easy to see if any air bubbles are formed with the spreading method.

Might do it myself if not.

Would it really hinder the temps? When the cooler is attached it will all be squeezed out so there is only the correct amount between the plates anyway.

I just done a gpu one and tbh I got the TIM almost everywhere lol. It works exactly as I wanted it to.

The purpose of thermal paste is not to be the primary heat transfer medium between the CPU/GPU and the heatsink, it is supposed to mitigate the unevenness on the surfaces. Bare metal is by orders of magnitude a far better heat transfer medium, and if you could achieve a perfect seal without thermal paste, that would be optimal.
