970 - Locked at 1114MHz idle

I've just noticed that my GFX card temp is high for idle, currently 52c. But I then noticed that the graphics clock is at 1114MHz and memory clock is at 3506MHz - Is this to high for idle

Only seems to be doing this since Windows 10

That shouldn't make any difference. It's another process causing the graphics to engage.

I reinstalled the drivers and its fixed

Could this be a faulty gfx card

As you just said a driver fixed the issue, so I don't think so. Ian was likely right.

It was set to adaptive

I did a full system format windows 10 and it's gone back to how it was.....

My TX's are at preferred maximum performance and the clocks sit at stock when idle

You jumped on a brand new OS. If you want to have a good time you should relax and expect strange things for a while

I have had this before on my 780 but I cannot remember how I fixed it.

Either nvidia control panel or Msi afterburner or drivers!

If I remember I'll let you know.

Reinstall drivers with custom install and clean install option ticked.

I was sure I posted in this thread already... then I noticed there is 1 in graphics and 1 in Windows 10 sub forum

I did another clean install it goes fine after the install but when I load a game up and close it again the clocks just stay at max and don't down clock

Moving back to windows 8 fixed this

But with chrome open my gpu clock still goes max is that normal

144hz monitor? Drop it to 120hz

Nope both are 60Hz

In windows 8.1 with chrome open my GPU maxes out it hasn't done this before though even on 8.1..... Could the card be faulty

Try with only 1 monitor connected.

Unlikely. There'll be something, some setting somewhere, in some program that's utilising the graphics.
