You can find your internet favourites stored in C:\Users\...\Favorites where ... is your username. Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 used same Favourites folder. When I upgraded my 2 PCs from Windows 8.1 to 10, it automatically moved all links to Windows 10 so you should have it already.

One of the things i love about using Chrome is do a clean install or restore log back into my google account and all my favs are reloaded

I'm assuming you didn't sign into the original upgrade to 10 with a MSA, as then they would have been synced into the cloud for you?

My favs are gone as well upgraded from 8,1 to 10 I presume edge is the new explorer?

Internet explorer is still installed just search for it. You should be able to export your favourites or something. if they arnt their check your windows.old folder.

The OP formatted his hard drive, completely different issue :P

To import your previous browser favourites into Microsoft Edge, fire up Edge, look for the three dots in the top right corner (looks like ...) click settings then click "import favourites from a previous browser"

I did an upgrade, loaded Chrome, all my favourites still in place, as you say above.

Later did a clean install, formatted disk, installed and lost all favourites - it seems they weren't synced after all.

The positive to come out of it is that (after 2 hours) they are more organised and relevant, as I had to re-input those I could remember.

That could only happen if you weren't signed in to a Google account or you unchecked the synch feature in Chrome.
