I've had my v1000 for over 10 years. It's been through 4 different builds and is starting to look a bit beat up so it's time for an upgrade. I haven't really looked at cases since 2005 so I'm not really sure what's good these days so I'm after some advice.

I'd like:

  • A midi atx tower
  • Aluminium
  • Lian-li build quality
  • Good cooling (not fussed about room for watercooling as i won't be taking that route)
  • Under £200 if possible

I was looking at the v1000lb (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-694-LL) but it seems like more of the same. What else is out there?

I'd wait for the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX to come out looks like a really interesting case.
Also the Silverstone Fortress Ft02, kind of a midi height wise but it's long depth wise. It's a bit old now but nothing comes close quality wise and performance for air in it's price range.
Other case i'd be looking at is the Phanteks Enthoo Primo but it's not a midi.

Lian Li PC-D600 if you fancy a change of style, if you want Lian quality you'll have to stick with the brand, these are some real plastic and tin dog cases out there :)

I just view lian li as big rattly tin boxes these days.

Well there is certainly no tin involved in them, but they are not the quality they were a few years back, they are overpriced these days, but then so are the real tin and plastic cases.

True but lian li are way behind in performance design and user friendly wise.
Their quality is obviously second to none.

Never seen the O8X before - looks pretty interesting though!

The phanteks one looks nice as well but there isn't space for a 5.25" drive.

You can probably pickup a nice used Lian on fleabay, unless your like me and don't buy used cases :)
