4 weeks ago I broke my thumb and tore my UCL. I have since then had a ridiculous looking fibreglass thumb spica cast, which frankly is beginning to smell. If one more person gives me a thumbs up I'm liable to risk further injury and deliver a punch (awaits Buddy Christ jpeg).

It has been a major inconvenience not being able to drive and thankfully has not been too itchy, however with three young children has been frustrating for both them and me. Thankfully the cast is being removed tomorrow and hopefully will stay off depending on how well it has healed.

Has anyone else had their summer disrupted with broken bones?

Glad to hear it - hope it is ok

Fell out of a gum tree in Australia in 1975. Broke my left arm in two places. Had my arm in plaster for 3 months.

When they removed the cast my arm

A: floated up
B: Stunk to high heaven
C: was as black as the ace of spades.

I literally scratched great chunks of dead flesh off my arm with the nails on my right hand.

1984-ish I had my left thumb crushed off after being run over by a quarry dumper (what's that black shadow ? - Ooooh sheet--drops to knees)

After micro surgery and many repeat trips to theatre and HOURS of OC therapy my thumb has healed but the middle joint has seized which means to hold a plectrum I have to kind of "Fist-hold" it.

I've also had the top of my middle finger left hand chopped off in 1977

Ah the fun of the arm/hand smell when it first comes off.. Its horrible! I remember when i did my wrist i had a good hour cleaning/flaking skin off my wrist/hand

Broke my thumb in april 2 years ago and had it in a cast for 6 weeks. No biggy, missed one day of work. Having the pins yanked out was fun :D
