I just wondered why the price has dramatically gone up on this card?

I understand it was on a weekly special, but for it to go up a tenner after the offer, and then a further £20 a day later is a little steep.

Don't get me wrong I will still purchase one as I believe the MSI card is the nicest looking version, and should be a nice upgrade over my gtx 670 which has served me well for 2 and a half years.

Gibbo has also said might be this week or soon; he's going to be offering 390 at 239.

MSI got a great card but so is the sapphire

Nitro for sure, way cheaper and a better cooler.

The MSI card is far better than the old 290/X MSI card (with hawaii the only cards that weren't pretty bad were the sapphire and powercolor cards), but its still not as good as the top dog which is the sapphire card.

The price of the MSI card is up because marketing. MSI is a "better name". Therefore they will sell many more, regardless of the cooler quality. I mean ASUS actually sold some hawaii cards, AND some furies, even though their coolers are terrible.

Therefore OCuk will do the very typical OCuk thing and increase price due to demand, it's pretty common.

Gibbo is 8Packs apprentice.

390x strix is also a very good card. I have just tested it. Great cooler and build quality. Good OC potential. Good looks.

Do we know if OCUK Price Match ?? as they do seem to be £20 higher on each version of the MSI 390/390X which I have to say for me is not the norm as in the past OCUK have at least been the same if not a bit cheaper and of course the HB's make all the difference :-)

They did for me on Friday just gone on an EVGA Supernova G2 psu, so if you dont ask you dont get :)

Wouldn't you be better off with a R9 290x? I mean they have half the VRAM but it has basically the same performance, you'd run out of grunt before hitting the limit.
