Just for some late night movies. Looking for closed as read its better suited to the higher bass responses which seem a must for movies.

Do all closed headphones make your ears sweat constantly after a short period of time?

Thanks :)

Haven't tried them but the headphone that comes to mind is the Phillips Fidelio line, would also help if you said how much you're willing to spend.

fidellios They are great for movies well made and really comfy. But Alas they are open back and leak sound.

I imagine you're looking at DT770 or Audio technica M50X

But we would need a budget as the sky is the limit in headpohones :D

Have a look at the Sony line too, reports are very comfortable & the signage heritage say movies are suited !

Open back do leak sound but you said you wanted closed back for the bass response. You'll be hard pressed to find any headphones with better bass response than the Fidelio X2

If you didn't like the X2's comfort that rules out the DT770 and 90% of the headphones out there lol.

The AKG K712 will be up your alley. Very comfortable, great bass extension plus a slightly warm tilt to add a sense of fullness without over doing it. Mids are well integrated and the treble is nicely extended but they do have a upper mid peak that can give them a bit of a shout but not everyone is affected..I'm very sensitive to that area.

Another option is the Audio Technical R70x. Basically add everything I said with the K712 but with no peak and a more natural sound! Oh and slightly cheaper.

Many comparison to the Sony's in the link & every other headphone. The thing is you really don't know until you hear for yourself, I own the K712 & think they are the best to my ears. The K712 are very good (for me) at gaming, music & general usage (with an X7) but I didn't think that they were great for movies. I own the Yamaha 677 & found the best setting was pure direct, I still wanted more punch from the sound.

Thanks... Would k712 be a decent upgrade over MA900's I have and love

I personally prefer the MA900. I think it's a technical improvement over the MA900 with deeper bass and a more precise treble with better imaging. Soundstage is about equal.

The MA900 is in that warm, lush category like the HD650 and friends. The K712 while warm, has hints of dryness to the sound.

So they compare well but the K712 is just a tad more HiFi sounding. A clean upgrade would be something like the HD650 or R70x because they keep that sound but male improvements.

They have no mids, metallic highs but impactful bass. It's going backwards from the MA900 as well as a dramatic signature change.

I think they sound terrible.

if you're at that end of the spectrum man the world is your oyster have fun but make sure you test them out!
