Anybody else come across this with a headphone amp.?
I bought the OTG cable which sounds better and gives more control but the amp is acting like a power bank.

Thankd

Seems odd that the E3 charges a smartphone/tablet connected via USB OTG. This charging feature is mentioned in the E5 blurb, but not the E3. I suppose that could be because the E5 has a larger battery capacity though, so is mentioned purely because it has the extra capacity to charge other devices without running the battery down too much, not because charging other devices doesn't work with the E3. Having said that though, if the E3 can do this the same as the E5, then it should be mentioned.

Also odd that there is no option to disable USB charging from what I can see looking at the manual.

Thanks Mars man.
The problem I've got is I'm in Rhodes and searching on my Note 3 for the solution is becoming a pain.
Perhaps if there's a way to turn off usb charging on the phone?

The only solution seems to be to use Bluetooth otherwise if connected via USB either the E3 will charge your phone or your phone will charge the E3, depending on cable direction.

That only uses it as an amp and bypasses the E3's DAC but that's probably not terrible as most phones have decent DACs these days.

Are you sure?
Have you got a link?
I've been using Bluetooth today but it didn't sound as good as the jack to jack.

Well, to make use of a DAC (digital to analogue converter), it would need to be connected via a digital only connection type. So, either SPDIF (optical, coaxial RCA), USB or HDMI. Any 3.5mm connection will be analogue, unless it's mini toslink optical (SPDIF). You'd know if it was digital 3.5mm though, as there would be a red light shining out of the jack, and besides, the E3 does not have SPDIF input/output, only the E5 does. Also likely, the only digital you'd get from an Android device would be either USB or HDMI.

Bluetooth uses compression, so that's likely to be the reason why it doesn't sound as good as using analogue from the phone to the E3.

Thanks.
I only have 25% hearing and this has made a huge difference although quality for me is OTG cable then jack then Bluetooth.

That is a proper oversight.
That means I can only use the unit with a fully charged phone or for not very long.
