I some reason get fps drops on certain games such as tf2. I have a gtx 970 so the fps shoudnt drop to 40 fps. Do you think it could be caused by the HDMI cable becuase it is a really cheap one from a pound shop?

The notion that it either works or doesn't is erroneous, as it suggests that you either get a perfect signal, or none at all.

For all intents and purposes it isn't actually far from that, but a dodgy cable will still display a signal, it's just going to be fairly obvious that the signal is damaged in some way, as there will be visual corruption/artifacting.

There's no link necessary really. Although the source file and data it represents is absolutely digital - as indeed is the interpretation of the transmitted signal by the receiving device - it remains a fact that there is no such thing as a truly digital transmission.

Anyway, it isn't really relevant to the discussion and I was just being a douche :o

Do you remember the abuse I got for pointing out that digital signals are still sent in an "analogue" fashion? :p
