Licence Plate question :)

Hey my parents are looking to part exchange their current car. They have applied to the DVLA to put their private plate on retention and the paper work has come today to get the standard plate made for the car.

The question is how long have you got to put the old plate back on and take your private one off and inform insurance ext.

They are concerned about doing it right now as they might incur two fees from the insurance one for changing the number plate and then for changing the car so would rather do it all in one go.

Anybody have experience in this? Thanks

Just tell the insurance all in one and they should cover it under the same fee.

I'm just in the process now and just made sure they noted it on file for when you swap over.

You need to do it immediately, essentially they are now rolling on false plates without insurance.
