Asus B Grade RMA Issue

I've done lots of searching on the forum and I now know its a pretty well known issue, I didn't know on purchase though sadly and I love Asus products and expected their support to be just as good.

A lot of the threads are quite old though and I wondered if anything has changed in the last few years.

Basically I had my card give up on me, its outside of the Overclockers 90 day warranty as it was purchased as a B Grade. Asus keep telling me to deal with the retailer even though I've explained Overclockers won't touch it. Quite amusing as Asus actually advised me to contact my local Customer Protection Office regarding the issue if they refuse yet I've seen people having to do this against Asus themselves to get a result.

Its been 5 days now and I'm absolutely nowhere, I'm getting bored already if I'm honest. What is the best route to take? Is getting all serious with small claims courts etc the only way to make it happen?

I know one thing, my next card is going to be EVGA. Its even put me off Asus boards.

I was always led to believe that OcUK offered the 90 day warranty and the remainder of the warranty was with the partner and this would be Asus.

Somebody will have to confirm but I am sure you would still have some form of lengthy warranty.

Yeah I think the 3 year warranty is in place its just getting them to agree and accept it that's the problem. They just seem like they don't want to know.

You can't go wrong with EVGA and their warranty support.

I always use them.

Yeah I've dealt with them in the past, I also dealt with BFG who were pretty amazing as well. I've heard people waiting 6 weeks for Asus.

Have you actually contacted OCUK about the issue?
Maybe they are needed to start the RMA process and verify if there is a fault first.

I didn't think of that as I read how they have nothing to do with B grades after 90 days as they actually lose money on the sale so I assumed they wouldn't touch it.

Saying that I did email them today just to confirm that so I can then explain it to Asus. I'll see what overclockers say, maybe they will help.

Yep, keep hearing good things about EVGA and their warranty.

Will keep it in mind for my next new purchase.

I hear Zotac is pretty good as well.

Can't be stressed enough how important warranty is when it comes to buying online.

+1, still waiting on my replacement AIO CPU cooler 5 Weeks later, Coolermaster RMA, Avoid.

Good RMA matters, If it goes wrong its the difference between a smooth and fast no silliness replacement or repair and the urge to metaphorically murder a brand..

The whole of Asus warranty is supposed to be dealt with by the place you bought it from. Asus doesn't like dealing with us peasant's. You need to get back to OCUK.

Currently battling with Raijintek to replace my mobo which my Triton killed. Been nearly 3 weeks and basically been told "no can do". Going to be sending a strongly worded letter to them in Germany. From my own experience of their customer service i wouldn't buy from them again and i won't be recommending them to anyone.

Once outside the 90 days does OCUK handle the dealing with the manufacturer? I.E. i was under the impression that trading standards laws state that your contract is with the seller and they should handle refunds/fixing broken products? am i wrong with this?

You might be in for an uphill battle, because ocuk think they can literally just give you a 90 day warranty and that is the end of it... hope you paid by credit card

I'll keep the thread updated as to help others who might be in the same situation.

So what's the point of the 90 day warranty if OCUK have to handle your case for the 3 years? Unless the manufacturer Asus 3 year warranty no longer applies on B grade items which I wasn't aware of?

I'll wait for a reply from OCUK, they may handle it and I'd then accept my mistake of going direct to Asus.

I paid on a debit I think, can't really remember. Hopefully its not a drawn out affair like that. I really want Asus to restore my faith in them, I don't want to be put off buying their stuff in the future.

I think you are missing the point... There is no three year warranty with bgrade, its 90 days and then nothing, ocuk are not going to help you here, that's what they've said in the past despite people pointing out the EU law from above

Below is the original description for this product, any reference to warranty is to be ignored. Warranty for this item is 90 days as with all B Grade items.

If true that's pretty pathetic. They should honour the 90 day warranty from time of purchase and thereafter it should be whatever is left of the three year warranty from the cards manufacturing date (rather than customer purchase date) and if Asus want OcUK to deal with it as the middleman then they should.

That is definitely ocuk's stance, its why I always strongly advise people not to buy bgrade when it comes up, or at least buy on credit card so you stand a fighting chance later

Didn't know that, I thought it was 90 days and thereafter the remainder was with the manufacturer. That's harsh

But surely if Asus request that OcUK assist in the rma they still should. OcUK aren't obviously replacing it as its longer than 90 days but why can't they help their customer get the remaining manufactures warranty with Asus. As someone said they tend not to deal with the end user directly but prefer the retailer.
