At the moment I feel like a heroin addict (or what I assume one feels like) coming off cold turkey.
A week ago I decided to give up all sugar, well refined sugar and sweets and I am struggling.
I can't think straight, I am agrevated and short tempered and feel terribly void and constantly hungry which nothing can fill.

Kill me, Kill me now!!!
If anyone else is thinking of doing this, I urge you not too.
So GD what's your addiction?

Can't have to much fat either, I am working on a diet of less sugar and less fat. Looking to rid myself of stomach buldge.
So only meat and veg and small amount of carbs. It's fricking killing me.

I don't have sugar unless it's inside what I'm eating. Don't have it on my breakfast (including porridge), don't have it in my cups of tea and unless it's needed for something like baking, I'll never add extra.

That's the aim. It's seriously hard.

I thought it would be hard too. I first started having my cups of tea without sugar, and it was instantly noticeable. I didn't take to the new taste straight away, but it gets easier if you just stick to it. Now, even if someone tried to sneakily put a little sugar in my drink, I'd notice instantly as it tastes way too sweet.

Step at a time :)

Do/did you drink fizzy drinks? I'm very fortunate in that I never liked fizzy drinks. I've never had a sweet tooth and when at a restaurant would always much prefer to have a start and main, rather than main and dessert. I used to have sugar in my tea but kicked that habit at Uni fortunately. Some people have got it real bad, always drinking coke/juice etc, the sugar intake is astounding.

Good luck to you, it'll be worth it in the end.

On a sidenote, I heard that having cinnamon helps ease the sugar cravings. Someone suggested to have that on porridge in the morning

I never had any symptoms when I switched to using sweetners,

how much sugar did you eat lol

get some sugar free gum to chew

While I was never big on drinking anything fizzy from a can, I used to buy energy drinks every day at work. I wanted to kick the habbit of buying them to save money and because they started making my teeth feel funny.

My sister is hooked on everything fizzy and sugary, makes me sad :(.

I pretty much gave it all up at one point, now I seem to be eating more sugary stuff than ever!
I seriously need to get a grip. :(

Kevin Smith (Writer/Director/Actor/Podcaster) did the same and has lost loads of weight but he has said many times on his podcasts that it was one of the hardest things he has ever done and the first month was REALLY tough with depression etc.

I add half a teaspoon of sugar to cheap coffee to take the edge off (I only drink the stuff to wake myself up anyway!) aside from that, I don't add sugar to anything.

I am slightly addicted to caffeine and alcohol though... :p
I drink coffee religiously, and whilst I only drink alcohol on the weekends, I do feel a bit agitated if I don't have a drink on a Friday night.

Truth.

Cinnamon helps regulate blood glucose.

I can also personally recommend RAW CARROTS! The carotenoids in them make for wonderful blood glucose regulation.

(go for organic carrots, as they are one of the worse root veg for holding onto pesticides etc.)

Interesting. After sounding a bit holier-than-thou I must admit I do have golden syrup on my porridge in the mornings. Maybe I should try cinnamon.

I think celery is good if you fancy something sweet?

Look on the bright side, at least you're not coming off of 28 cans of red bull a day with bad eyesight and a swollen brain.

Speaking from experience? :p

Surely you should have been drinking The Doctor monster? :D
