Finally a video explaining what Asic quality really entails.

I think there was enough confusion to warrant it's own thread.

P.S. Please tell me how to embed it properly! EDIT: Thanks!

The guy rambles on and I didn't learn **** all from him as I already knew what it does. For someone who said I will state facts and not opinions where are his refrences?

All very well and good.
Overclocking is affected because for example you can only put so much voltage through the Titan X and with my very low asic's I just need more than that to achieve the same overclocks as other people. But due to the lockdown I can't do that.

I should try independent OC'ing instead of linked

For the informed like yourself, you probably did not find it that insightful. However for the masses it may help eleviate some of the ASIC myth.

Trust me, from what I've heard from certain people all this guy cares about is how many cards he can get for free. I had a discussion with someone recently about his blogs and the conclusion is you can't really ever make an informed decision about a potential purchase from any of his videos.

He makes money out of his videos, what should anyone expect besides entertainment?
By the way he just stated that Asic doesn't mean for overclocking as much as EVGA wants us to believe, so I don't really get your point.

I guess l just cherry picked what he said :) something l have to do on a daily basis in my job :)

I'm not very informed at all, most of my knowledge comes from the logical arguments people make here and from seeing various benches, scores and other user data people present. ;)

What he said, that I didn't picked up anywhere before, is that the Die is imperfect. Asic percentage measures how close to perfection - and efficient relatively to the voltage supplied - it actually is.

An actual point to his videos would be nice.

Here is all that needs to be said. ASIC quality is measured during manufacture by leakage, the higher the leakage the less ASIC quality is stamped. Thus, higher leakage chips use more voltage and are deemed a lesser quality. It is however not a direct indication, but a factor in how far the sample can be pushed.

That is all that needs to be said. And that took less than 11 minutes to say.

I quite like Jay but he is seriously waffling on and confusing things more than needed.

+1

It was only the last few seconds of his video that was of any value.

Lower ASIC, Higher Volts, More Heat, Less Boost.

Instead of doing a video about ASICs before reviewing the EVGA Kingpin 980 Ti it would have been more useful to do a review with 4 EVGA Kingpins each with a different ASIC to see if there was any real world differences.
