** WEEKEND INSANITY AT OcUK: GTX 980 SUB £350 & R9 390 8GB SUB £240 !!!

Probably not at 1080p. I'm just about to upgrade from a 7950 to a 390 & I still game at 1080p although I've half an eye on going to 1440p soon.

Damn the 390 looks tempting. 2x£240 gets you a setup that will do 4K faster than the TitanX or FuryX at a lower price. Tempting if I had a 4K monitor.

Battling with the decision to push the trigger on the Powercolor R9 390, good value for money as I understand, as asked would the MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming Edition be worth the £35 or do I invest in a GTX 980 so it lasts longer?

Anyone can push me to pick one? ;)

MSI has 3 year g'tee, Powercolor 2 year.

Haven't forum members been raving about the MSI "gaming G" cards?

--------------------

I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place. The R9 390 now appears to be the "best bang for the buck;" is cheaper; is more futureproof (with 8GB) and has the beating of a 970 in everything but the game I play the most... Project CARS!

I really don't want to have to pay an extra ~£110+ for an Nvidia 980, then pay out an extra ~£200 for a g-sync 1440p+ monitor, to be able to run pCARS with all the bells and whistles against a decent grid of AI in wet weather.

But at this point, the only other option I can see, is to buy two R9 390s (or above) to run Crossfire and then maybe have playable 4k.

I posted in the other duplicate thread but I guess that threads been deleted. The powercolor is a great price but would 2 of them work in xfire as triple slot coolers?

Edit: I'm in a bit of a quandry. I have a professional Hazro monitor which is DVI only. As such my only AMD (preferred) options are 2x390 or 2xFury Strix. Any idea when the Asus is coming in and can we get a pre-order deal pretty please?! I'd buy 2 at £400!

I will probably plump for the MSI 390 Gaming now its come down to £275.

As others said you get an extra years warranty and better noise / cooling performance from the MSI.

Tempted to order it now....

I've been waiting all week for this. I was convinced it was going to be a sapphire nitro 390 and now it's the powercolor I'm slightly disappointed.

Pretty sure the powercolor has been available at 240 a while at places.

Great prices all round though.

Should I sell my GTX970 and buy a 980 or 390

I game at 1080p

Don't see the need really. I'm running a 780 Ti which is a similar running card, and it runs great @ 1080P.

If you were upgrading to a 980 Ti that'd be a different (and far more expensive) proposition.
