If you are like me and just bought a brand new TV the other day, you will be somewhat freaking out.

What i thought was a dead pixel because of flickering to black pixels, turns out to be a bug potentially. I tapped it originally to revive it and squished the thing right in there.

On examination its about 80% the size of the pixel, looks like its far back inside the screen and doesn't remain in place with the actual pixels on screen when you move your head to different angles. So small it looks like a dead pixel.

This wasnt the only one though, there were others but what i would assume is on the surface of the screen. I would see pixels dim out or change a certain color, on closer inspection (litterally face to the screen) there is very very tiny line almost like a spec of dust taking up about 20% of a pixel square. Can sorta squish them, flick them, blow them away, and they really love when i put a green image to fullscreen for some reason and you start seeing them on more pixels.

What the **** are these? I would think these are mites or thunderflies, but some people have called me insane/paranoid in the past or on drugs because of this. Clearly not when a squished one has screwed my new TV (hoping right now that it will dry out and disappear because its 70% better than when it was first there, suction cups and tapping etc)

And yea warning, don't touch the screen in summer

Those are thunderflies, and there's a huge pain in the ass in the summer. Little buggers love getting all over your light fabrics when outside and inside stuff.

Thrips.

And yeah a massive pain in the posterior. I got one slap bang in the middle of my old monitor about 2 weeks ago. Just replaced it with a BenQ xl2730z and find myself checking it hourly for signs of the little buggers!

What the hell are thunder flies? I have never heard of them in my life.

Thrips! Also called 'thunderbugs' by some. They're neither flies nor bugs, but they're a real nuisance for their love of blue light and ability to get through seemingly impossible spaces. ;)

Edit: Haha. Look at us all keen to educate.

My mum had some get behind professionally mounted photo's. I used top get covered in them when cycling during the summer.

That dust in your house, it's not 75% dead skin or whatever the ratio is...

It's 100% decayed thunderfly corpse!

Had one in my old laptop, didn't squash it, managed to get rid of it by bashing the laptop on a table on its side until it moved out of view :D

I've never seen one 'decay' lol. I had one in an old 19" monitor, that was there a couple of years, wouldn't shift.
