I think you find its not if they dont know who you  are then its legal now

So how is anonymous information the same as personal information?

Microsoft can have all the anonymous information it wants tbh. Collecting anonymous information has been happening since year dot.

Oh, by the way, I hope none of you filled out the census or register to vote...

Such as, what are you worried about specifically?

its not what im worried about, its what else they have that i don't know, would you like that people can read your private txts? plus when they start they tend to take very small steps towards total disclosure and infiltration of your personal life.
You dont take large changes as that's too sudden for people, you do smaller changes until you get to your goal, and each small step becomes agreed by the population rather than one large one that does not.

And what makes everyone think this is a new w10 thing? If you do, wow, you are more ignorant than we think...

Discrediting w10 for that reason is basically discrediting your whole computing life.

Do you use SwiftKey?

They have been able to read Texts for decades, you ticking a box to say don't read my texts will not stop people who want to read your texts reading them, or listening to your calls, or intercepting your emails. I get the point you are trying to get to, but your OP is naive and silly.

With each OS that they come out with the more they want to know about you. You really don't know how it all works, if you want change but you know they the people will vote against it, the best way to get to it is to make thousand small changes to get the same result with no resistance.

Hell, we should be praising Microsoft for putting this clearly and obviously in their agreement so that any half brained idiots can see them, rather than burying them deep in the fine print so nobody notices them.

Because data is of massive value with the connected world. Go back to your ZX81 or accept that is the way of the world today. It's not an erosion of your rights, it's the way of the connected world and you either put up, shut up or go elsewhere but elsewhere will be going the same way any day soon.

There you go your way of thinking the corporate way, your arguing for them and letting them take what they want.

Or you can just stop the program in it's tracks ;)

Of course because times are changing. They need to know more and learn more about their end users to enable innovation and proper support.

As much as companies can try and trust their end users to give feedback, they will get a much better result with not trusting and enabling ways to force it.

The difference is, they have given the end users the choice to enable/disable these options which is a damn sight more innovative than anything else they have released so far!

I don't see a problem with them collecting my usage at all, as msft is a new msft under satya and they are so focused on us now. Gabe for example is a prime example
