Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers - carriage collision

What a brave young girl, standing there smiling in them photos after having her leg amputated, nearly dying if doctors didn't rush in and do emergency blood transfusions. She is lucky she has her other leg! Alton Towers need to fund the best prosthetic leg money can buy!

I hope the money she gets from them makes her life better, she deserves it immensely, sadly no amount of money can replace a missing limb though.

Good luck to her and the other victims.

This video is amazing. In a few short years we'll be able to grow living tissue to go on the top of that hand and it'll be just like the real thing.
 
That arm is truely impressive. I remember seeing very basic prosthetic arms and hands being shown on Tomorrows World as a kid in the 70's which were really very little more that a basic grip. Now they are sensitive enough to hold eggs, pour beer from a glass, etc. As mentioned above there will be synthetic skin on them soon. I also bet theyr aren't heavy like the early versions as he seems to hold it effortlessley. Another 50 years of development and they will be pretty close to the real thing.

I'm not sure I would want living tissue on top of it, I think it looks amazing as it is, Terminator cyborg style :D definitely something to show off to your mates down the pub, and the ladies :P
