hey guys so i cant really test prime45/asusrealbench stress testing on my 4790k chip because it hits like 100c at around 4 mins in stress testing. i have a h100i cooler, and the chip itself has a default clock at 4.4ghz so im guess i am pretty lucky with that but it gets hot too fast. anyonee know what i can do because i cannot stress test really.

Default clock is 4ghz, the cpu can boost only one core to 4.4ghz with turbo boost. 100 celsius is far too hot with that cooler, you should probably be 25 celsius cooler at least.

Make sure the cooler is correctly seated, and that the pump is connected to the right fan connector. Also check the stock voltage in the BIOS for the CPU as it can apparently run too high in some motherboards without a BIOS update.

For reference my CPU in Asus Real bench at 4.5ghz using 1.15v peaks around 68 or 69 celsius.

+1

My gigabyte z97 soc had the vcore at 1.4v when i first installed the 4790k, temps were 50-60c at idle ! :D

BIOS update sorted the issue.

I have just built my new rig with a 4790K , I have a H110i GT , and it gets to about 72C on asus real bench on a 15 min stress using default (1.267v) voltages according to the motherboard.
