Why are politicians seemingly never prosecuted for fraud?

Pre election the Conservatives promised lots of electrification of the railways, we all know what happened to that promise.

To be fair the work is getting done just later than first planned, i know this as we are doing some of the upgrading works such as track lowering to fit the new electrification structures.

Relating to the likes of their campaign promises vs what is delivered in office.

There are many cases of promises being made on public record by video, audio and text which are subsequently either conveniently forgotten / overlooked or plain and simply reversed and the opposite achieved.

Even records of those in-office making promises, completing documents to the effect and then no action taken.

This behaviour is clear and plain fraud (obtaining peculiar advantage by deception) with open public record and yet nothing is done?

Is it us? Are we too spineless to do something about it?

When I mention this kind of thing to anyone... the response I usually get is a shrug and "it's just politics"... or similar. Pffff...

This is politics....

Because it's not fraud?

They make statements and promises about what they hope to achieve. They get into office and realise not all of these are possible/feasible and have to prioritise other stuff.

They know most of what they say is not going to happen.More fool the electorate for believing them.

The same way that as far as I know only one banker has been jailed for involvement in a fraud. It seems 'banks' can commit crimes with impunity.

It would however become extremely boring quickly, there'd be nothing in it other than "more of the same".

What would happen is the manifesto would change from "we will do X" to "We will investigate doing X". In the real world nothing would happen.

like the lib MP who rent the flat o a gay mate and claim expenses was kick out but 3 years later has become an MP again.

He was never kicked out as an MP (He was suspended for 7 days!) he was just kicked out of the cabinet for which he returned two years later. He was voted out however at the last election.
