I don't think it's that much of a non-story. I find it interesting that the founders have chosen to take charge of a new 'holding' company instead. I've read in the past that Sundar has been more and more in charge of the day to day, but I think with this, he is more in-charge and can decide the direction of the company, including changing it (albeit not radically) if he so wishes. To me, it shows that the core offering of Google is no longer Larry and Sergey's 'baby', and they are delegating away that responsibility while they focus on other aspects of the business.
How much of a difference it will make, only time will tell, but I do think that changes could happen now, particularly if Sundar has something in mind for what Google is doing.
