So I've been with my fiancé for 8 years (engaged only for 4 months) and we were sitting eating dinner and for some reason that I can't remember, we were talking about the early space race.

Then out of nowhere, my soon to be Mother-In-Law proclaimed that the Moon Landing was faked. I of course, said that it's been proven time and time again that it's not and looked to my fiancé for backup and she decided to side with her mother and then soon her Dad also said he had suspicions.

I just sat there, silent, unsure if I should just pack up and leave or to try and explain this to them. I have no idea how they kept their stupidity secret for so long but now I'm at a loss what to do.

It's worth noting that the soon to be Mother-In-Law is Catholic so most likely still believes the Earth is flat... I haven't the courage to ask her.

Send Cosimo and Spook187 to beat some intelligence into them with the plethora of space memorabilia they both own :p

She is of course completely correct and you have bought in to all the American hype over the last 40 years. Go and stand in the corner.

Sounds like the perfect time to bring up the discussion on what evidence they have that their God exists.

UPDATE: I just told my work colleagues about this and to my shock and horror, they too have their doubts.

I'm surrounded by idiots! :(

You should have got your phone out and shown them the proof. If they still rejected the idea after you provided proof, then they're a bit dopey yes. I wouldn't really be that worried over an opinion on the moon landing though personally ;)

Your fiance, her mother and her father and all of the people you work with all believe that the moon landing(s) were potentially faked?

Do you know anyone who isn't a massive idiot? Could you marry them or at least not hang out with or marry any of the people in the first sentence?

Because you should do that. Boy, should you do that.

You have no idea how many times I have to bite my tongue when she starts spouting God nonsense.

On a serious note this is more worrying from a long term relationship perspective.
If she is seriously religious and you are a sceptic and feel strongly that it is all rubbish I am surprised you have been together for so long already.

If OCUK had a +Like button I'd be mashing it right now.

I had this discussion with someone at the pub once, I literally went on my phone and got the pictures China took of the moon landing spot showing the flag and the Moon buggy still there
