Thunderstorms - 2015

Just about to kick off here in Surrey. Few flashes and a distant rumble, now hammering it down with good ol' summer rain. :)

edit - woo 10k posts!

Amazing amount of lightning flashes going on near Cambridge. Cycled a mile home 30 mins ago and stopped counting at 100 flashes. Tropical style rain too. The road was a river and even with full waterproofs I got wet. Lots of fun but the dog's not enjoying it and the good lady hadn't closed the windows before going to bed. Glass of wine for me now and a slower start tomorrow I expect.

Luckily missed this flying into Gatwick, but some very impressive and numerous forks in the sky on the way to the M25 and then lots of sheet lightning above the M4.

Also in Cambridge. The weather is crazy. The rain was so load I woke up thinking we're under siege.

Was quite impressive but odd at the same time here in Richmond - almost no thunder to accompany the lightning! At first I thought there were people outside taking pictures with a flash on their camera. Lots of intra-cloud lightning with very little hitting the ground and flashes every few seconds. Almost no rain though oddly, so it's still fairly humid this morning!

There were tremendous storms near the M25 around Heathrow late last night. I could hardly see out of the windscreen and the lightning was very dramatic.

I'm out in Cambourne and we had a good old light show. Don't envy you cycling in the downpour though. I did it a few times last year during the tropical style storms that passed through, after a while you just have to stop worrying and enjoy it, after all you can only get so wet.

Thunder and lightning down here in Brighton

Rumbling just started in Horsham. Murky as hell out there.

Lightning strikes still over the Channel:

It's coming north slowly:

All the good stuff seems to be happening in Kent - the one place Carol Kirkwood said would stay dry this morning. Just rain here in Surrey.

All the bad stuff is to the east and we're just getting heavy rain which will now carry on for a couple of hours.
