ok guys just wandering if i would see much difference going from 780ti ghz editions in sli to 980ti's in sli, thing is i dont wanna spend £1000+ for little or no gain, has anyone else gone this route, is there much difference.

oh i have a 3930 cpu @ 4.3, and 4k monitor.

An oc'd single 980ti will be roughly the same performance as 780ti sli, so do the math ;)

This ^

I went from sli 780ti's to a single 980ti as i was hitting the vram limit on the 780ti's. The real life performance is the same for me, except I don't have vram issues anymore :D

+1 I'll stick another 980ti in later down the line when they come down in price.

At Ultra HD I think you will find the 980Tis in SLI will perform like three 780Tis minimum, but a lot less vram starved. 980Tis in SLI scale best at 2160p because the resolution is very GPU intensive.

If you find your 780Tis are struggling with 2160p then it may be worth it for you, if not I would wait for pascal where even the "small chip" equivalent to a vanilla 680/980 should be 100% faster than a 780Ti, so two x GTX 1080 > 780Ti quad SLI.
