So in september, I'll be planning to watercool my rig, which is i7 4770k, which at some point overclock, for ze aesthetics. I've never done it before, only looked at parts/components needed. Although I feel like my Panteks ethoo pro is too big! and might have excess space and was tempted to get Fractal R5 or S.

What's your opinion?

Should I stick with the ethoo?

Only upside with fractal, is it doesnt have a 200m fan at the front which is loud and is silenced.

Also, if you could link the parts to fit my budget £200-250 would be great, I have no knowledge on whats best really, but blocks, have to be as quiet as possible

Soft tubing or hard?

Any colour schemes to work with?

and as String says, CPU only right? you won't really be able to do a GPU on a £250 budget as a GPU block would cost almost half your budget and you'd have to skimp on other things leading to a significant compromise in terms of performance and looks.

Are you only cooling the CPU, no GPU?

I'll be overclocking the CPU eventually..GPU is gtx 980..and I dont see much of a point to wc it..unless theres not much of a price difference doing so?

To be honest, if you only intend cooling the CPU I'd go with an AIO like the Corsair H100 series.

Really...? so in terms of price diff, doing both, not much?

Stick with the Enthoo. Replace the 200mm at the front with a couple of 120mm's and a 240mm Rad.
Go for soft tubing for your first time, it's much more forgiving.
CPU only to start, your budget wouldn't allow for GPU too.

There's a big price difference as you need more rad space as well as the GPU block, and that means more fans and tubing and fittings etc.

If you only plan to OC the CPU to 4.5 or similar sane levels, then an AIO would be far more cost effective... unless of course, you want to go custom no matter what.

It's more about aesthetics haha. which i assume hard would be best? I'd love to do it blue and CPU only yes...and if gpu is that expensive..then No need.

So how much roughly would it cost for it all? I'd want to use the most of the space in my ethoo pro.

- Dimension 235 mm x 535 mm x 550 mm (W x H x D)

I'll need to read up the manual later on how to take apart the panel and take it out haha.

You can get a AIO cooler for about £80

For a custom loop you're looking at about £100 for res + pump combo, £50 for CPU block, £50 for rad and about £25 for the 6 fittings, £10 for tubing, £5 for silver coil.

I'm quite set on watercooling, mainly to the fact I want it to be more quiet. But that my case is massive..and the space isnt used up. And the window is dull and dark. It has no lighting, which I tend to add some LED strips and such in later on. Gotta research on what else I can do it make it brighter

String: That's pretty much the OC, i'd try to get at. urrrg..I guess it would be more cost effective to just get an AIO. Just wasting unnecessary money really

If you have the cash and want to go for the custom, then fair enough... it's good fun and interesting to do it.

I just want to make you aware that you can achieve the same results by spending around £100 and it's much less work/maintenance.

You've just got your first taste of what water cooling brings to the table... decisions, decisions!

Good luck.

Saw your build, its bootiful! what case is that? And I might just go for the AIO for now..I have the cash..but i guess thats not what student loan is for haha! even though I work. Will give wc a try in the future. Also any tips/tutorials to flashing up my inside? All I know is LED lighting..but how to install them etc?

Thanks re the case, it's a Parvum S2.0.

If you want a bit of lighting, just stick an LED strip in there. I like to put them along the top between the fans and the window panel. They are power by standard Molex plugs.

This is the one I use...
