Not the 330d :p At least not yet! ;)

I've got a really pants Astra Bertone 2004, 1.8 petrol.

It's now on SORN and it's MOT has run out, I have 4 fresh brand new tyres on the back seat, as well as passanger side CV boot to replace the current split one (crappy stretch kit) and bearing which is starting to fail.

It runs fine, 104k on the clock, it's a bit of a dog and to be frank, I can't be bothered wasting my time or effort on it. I was going to do the work required, MOT it and sell it on. But... I've got better things to do with my free time.

Question, do I scrap it, I'll get £100 for it, they will come and collect, hassle free. Then I'll sell the parts on ebay. Maybe get £150 in total for the lot.

Or, do I stick it on ebay, 3 days, £0.99 start price and just see what happens? I want it gone by Monday.

I'd stick it on Gumtree & a few Car For Sale pages on Facebook for 300 ovno & take 250 for it. These 2 door Astras sell surprisingly well & it has a fair set of Alloys & a full set of new tyres to go with it, Tyres & Wheels alone will be worth 200 quid to someone with a Vauxhall. Scrap it for 100 & you'll lose 150 quid.

Ebay it, far too good to scrap - given that it has all the bits with it, would expect you will get plenty of offers from people who have got the time to do the work, mot it and turn it around for £700 or more (judging by a quick glance on Autotrader)

I really don't have time nor patience to fit the boot and bearing and tyres to MOT it.

Will I get £250 even without MOT? If so, I'll stick it on the bay shortly.

Yes - would be very surprised if you didn't. Have sold a couple of far worse non-runners for more than that before.

No, but others have and that's what you need to count on - list what is wrong with it, and that the parts are included, and it's a few hours work for someone to turn it around and make a few hundred quid profit (be it a mechanically minded private buyer, or someone in the motor trade)

Yes mate you would. Like I said above someone with a Vauxhall will pay 250 quid for it keep the wheels & move the rest on with his old wheels & tyres on for an easy 100 quid meaning he'll get his alloys with 4 new tyres for 150 quid which with the price of tyres he'll get his Alloys for nowt.
Or someone like me will come along stick & MOT on it & put it up for 595 & draw 500 on it easily bringing 250 in makes it well worth while for a days work. If you were closer I would have already PM'ed you & had it myself as there's money in it no matter which way you look at it.

I once bought a Rover coupe for £80, it was a total shed. I sold the speakers out of it to a mate for £15 and put it on ebay expecting maybe £150, sold for £360 or something and the buyer came with cash and picked it up with no problems.

Put it on they bay and you will likely be pleasantly surprised.

eBay... ghadn over with cash in pocket, that car is too good to scrap, and I hate scrapping cars that are perfectly functional, it's a crying shame!

Wow, thanks guys! Will list now then. Hope I am pleasantly surprised!

3 days enough to get interest?

Edit, also I did a oil, fuel and air filter replacement, oil replacement and spark plugs replacement service on it. Should I mention it?

Surely you don't need to ask that? What possible reason would you have for not mentioning it?

Nah don't bother mentioning it, you'd get more money saying those things but the time and patience to write it down probably isn't viable for you :P

Of course mention it!!

Yes defiantly mention that you have done a service on it and point out any other good bits but also be honest about any flaws to avoid people trying to knock you down if they claim it is not described properly.

3 or 5 day auction should be fine also.

Good luck! :)

Great advert, hope it goes well.

Thank you. Me too, could do with a bit of spare cash. Literally dropped a few hundred on the Astra about a month ago, took it off the road, started working on it. Then life got insane. So if it can return some of that money, it will be great! Otherwise money out the window :(

Doh! Forgot to mention I have both keys and part service history.
