Upgrade sons pc

Current spec

X4 750k
Some crappy msi mobo
R7 260x

60gb ssd
1tb hdd
1 x 8gb 1600mhz ram

Budget is around 350 / 400 for upgrades.

Was thinking gtx 960 & i3-4170 and mobo. Should be around £350 mark.

Would that see a decent upgrade in his current spec?

Plays games like

Dirty bomb
Batman
World of tanks
Wow
Lego games

Sounds good. How about get him just the video card first, as that'll bump things up more than anything. Then wait to see Intel's new i3/i5 offerings together with new budget boards within a couple of months time I think.

What PSU does he have?

use the 60gb SSD for OS and games on HDD then this.. I added a cheap case on as I don't know what you have currently

Currently have a corsair carbide 300r so thats fine.
Also psu is a evga 550w so no realy need to upgrade it.

Just ordered msi h81m mobo i5-4460 & evga gtx 960 ssc

Qlready have a single stick of 8gb ram so will stick with that for now

cool. don't forget though 1 stick will run in single channel mode, 2 will run in dual channel

yeh swapped the 2 X 4GB sticks from the HTPC for his 1 X 8GB stick just.

the 2 X 4's are 1866mhz as well.
