Going to Spain next month and I will need mobile data.

What's the best/cheapest way to get some? Can I get a PAYG SIM over there and load it up? Or are there any decent PAYG SIMs from UK providers that do a good add-on for European data?

I'm with BT Mobile and it's £10 for 100MB...

Thanks in advance.

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.

3 don't differentiate between local an European charges, so long as your on a "package" thing on their payg. So spend a tenner on some add on and all them mins / texts / data should be included.

O2 was something like a 50p connection charge, and then bundled mins are used. Was ok.

I do travel reasonably regularly, and am now on 3. That being said, I am on payg, and am currently spending less than £10 a month, so don't bother with the add on. Even the normal charges for using it abroad didn't seem overly bad to me, 13 ppm on calls for example. I just turn roaming off as I'm never that far away from some wifi.

This isn't strictly true.

Three *do* differentiate between local and European charges - but they offer a scheme called 'Feel at Home' which works in 16 countries worldwide. Some are in Europe, some are not in Europe - so in some European countries you will be pay roaming charges with Three.

Spain is a Feel at Home country so a PAYG SIM with any addon will work be charged as is in the UK, but it's important to clarify for others that it isn't Europe wide.

Yeah, fair enough. Fox is right here. I wasn't entirely accurate with my comment. But for Spain you'd be ok. As I am currently here in Norway, that isn't in Europe.

Why do you keep mentioning Europe, Feel at Home is not European Union specific, I paid loads on business trips to Luxembourg because it is not a feel at home destination. Spain is only a recent addition. On the flip side the U.S. is covered.

The fact Norway isn't a Feel at home destination has nothing to do with not being in the European Union.

Get a 3 sim payg
Stick 15 (maybe 20 now) pounds on
Buy the unlimited data addon
That's 30 days of unlimited data for 20 (applies to Spain)

Because I initially wrote it late at night, on my iPad, on nightshirt with a ropey connection, so couldn't actually find the real facts, but I did know many European countries were included, as well as non European countries, such as Norway, where I currently am, and is a Feel At Home destination.

But the OP was specifically asking about Spain, which is also included.
