Hi, i'm putting together a PC for a relative for their birthday.

Will be a Pentium K, Z97 board and 8Gb ram etc rig.

What is the cheapest brand new Gpu that i can get away with, without it looking & playing bad, awful.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Sam :)

Well, budget is Difficult to be honest. I have never played it so have no idea how it really runs on this or that hardware.

Possibly i could stretch to an R7 370/GTX 750Ti but i'll be eating cheese on toast for the next 2 weeks if i do that....

Maybe a GTX960/R9 380 if i go on a very strict diet.

So i suppose max £150 but less would be really appreciated.

Hey!

These would be my 3 choices, going from new on OCUK. ITX card, because it looks cute.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 "ITX Edition" 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
1 x MSI Radeon R7 370 Gaming 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £121.99
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 750Ti Gaming OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (N750Ti TF 2GD5/OC) £109.99
Total : £381.97 (includes shipping : Ex.VAT).

370 benchmarks are showing ultra in GTA, BF4, AC:Unity etc at around the 30fps marks.

Go second hand? Possibly pick up a 290x for £150 or a 280x for about £100. Would be great if you had MM access :(

Too busy using my lovely new PC blasting little stick figures to have the time that that needs :) Got back into CS in a big way.

Second hand like i'm a bit leery of as it's a present, also i'd have to get a more powerful PSU.

How much better would the 370 be over the 750Ti, enough to make a difference?

Thank you Lokken86, thinking about it!

Also just found out that the GTX950 is due to land on the 17th?

I can easily wait for it, if it'll be worth it.

What do people think about that card?

Sam thanks for the info, now i don't know what to do :)

*got to go sleep, ta for help.

Yes it is but i wanted to get a new gpu for the warranty, still can't make my mind up on what to do right now.

I think I'll wait to see what price GTX950 comes in at and then get the best I can for the money.

Cheers for all of the replies, info and your help :)

No dramas, l am rocking a GTX 750 Ti in my Linux box, it was also a B Grade and is still going strong :) not bad for 59 Quid :)

Pretty sure I ran Skyrim at max on an old 6870 1GB, there's probably a rebranded 7850/7870 in AMD's line up that will easy max this game for under £100.

Just make sure any card you buy has at the very least 2GB ram (for other titles on medium settings).

Thank's SouthEastBlue, CEUOTC and everyone else.

After looking at my finances carefully, I've gone with a **B Grade** MSI GTX 750Ti !

I get that and some other stuff tomorrow morning, probably minus the Haribo though :(

Ta for the help :)
