hi there, my mate is looking to make a gaming pc, mainly to play arma 3 (so we are going to need a decent CPU).

Any ideas on what he should be getting?

I was thinking maybe a
4690k
paired with a GTX 980
and a 500gb SSD ?

Let me know as I am not really up to day with new hardware.

Thanks :)

would it be better to drop the HDD and change the 290 for a 970? (not a fan boy of either , just wondering if it is worth spending the extra few quid on the gpu)

Why would you buy that when I selected a Better PSU, newer CPU/board+RAM, faster SSD and included a big heatsink for £10 more.

Like I say, I do not really know too much about this stuff. Didn't realise there was much of a difference.

Weaker PSU
Slower RAM
GFX card with less Vram
Cooler isnt as nice.

Glad I didn't have to ask.. :p

All of that will hardly make a difference, certainly not a noticeable one.

Maybe the VRAM might be an issue at 1440p, assuming that res monitor will be used.

It will make a difference (plus the longer warranty on the EVGA PSU;) )

I have personally used this CPU+board+RAM+cooler;) and only £2 more:D
