Stripped Screws

So I completed my build about a month ago and set the whole custom loop up. Annoyingly I managed to strip two of the screws on one of the Titan's so just kept both with the stock cooler.

Kind of pointless having the loop set up but not being able to use it for anything but the CPU, would love to throw the TX's under water. Anyone got some tips on possibly how to extract these? tried the rubber band method and a much better screwdriver, but no luck.

Thanks!

I had to take a dremel to mine: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=27865858&postcount=9

And then to make matters worse, the screw head stripped out on me!

I tired every tool I had to hand but was unable to get any purchase. I futzed around with it for ages before admitting defeat and having to resort to more extreme measures. Yup, Dremmel time again!

I cut a channel into the screw head as deep as I dared go, but it was enough to get a flat head screwdriver in there. I had to hold the standoff on one side with the pliers and jam the flat head screw driver in for the other side. After a couple of failed attempts and a lot of cursing, we finally made progress and the offending article was removed!

Cheers guys, sadly I was thinking this may be the only option left also. Very nervous taking a dermal to the card as its one of the very small screws! will give a try however and watch out for the metal shavings. Thanks guys.

never done this but it popped into my mind just now - try glueing your screw driver into it with some really strong glue hold them in place while it dries.

possibly safer than taking a drill or dremel to it.

Sadly I tried this and left the glue to cure over night a few times, unfortunately it did not work.

I do have drill bits so it seems a drill or dermal is the options to pick.

Cheers.

Nope, just some super glue type stuff. Just ordered some of the JB weld stuff now off Amazon. Will be here Monday to give it a try. fingers crossed, Thanks!

use a screwdriver or something like that prior. Place it into the phillips screw head and give it a small tap with a hammer. Will help loosen the threads. As some of them they loctite in.

Then jb weld it press down and unscrew it :). Just make sure next time get better fitting screwdrivers, ive noticed with GPU screws going from phillips 0000 to 000 will round it off.

Yep, ordered some better drivers along with the JB Weld, seem to work a lot better and managed to remove the screws from my other card perfectly fine. :)

Yep, stuck a small Phillips in and slapped some JB Weld on it when it arrived this morning. Going to let it settle for tonight and see what happens tomorrow night, I will either be very estatic or very sad :D

Rough up the surface and stick a blob of quick steel, cut a slot and use a screwdriver to remove or quick steel a sacrificial tool to the blob
