So in the pictures below you will see why i upgraded what i have. This is a minor upgrade in reality to all these fancy new skylake crossfire/sli builds.. but i wanted to share my progress anyway :)

So this is my old motherboard and new one side by side, Question.. how much more shiny do i need to get that CPU before applying my new compound tomorrow? Ive been wiping it for a while and it seems to have a matte finish.

Old crappy motherboard that came in a PC build 2 years ago off a gumtree sale that had basically the entire rig minus the obvious for £150.. at the time the CPU was worth more so it was a steal.

One of my biggest reasons for upgrading was this, a 3.5mm audio jack from a set of PC speakers snapped off inside my motherboard, requiring me to use a sound car which blocked airflow to my GPU

My old CPU cooler (AFTER DUSTING!) obvious why its not working at full capacity.. it has had a few years of life though

The I/O of my new motherboard, a lot more good stuff going on here.. The audio makes me smile as im a bit of a music lover.. and i use occasionally use digital out

Finally a couple of pics on the PC shell, its been dusted already and mostly cleaned with the top and front pannel and 120mm fans brushed etc.. still needs a bit more attention though!

I will post my update tomorrow and probably cry for help after i break something!

Cheers

55 cpu in-game @ 4k :) really nice cooler as far as i can tell! idle is around 38 degrees although speedfan is giving some inaccurate readings, im using bios of actual readings and MSI afterburner/riva tuner in-game. Had a bit of a head scratching moment at first when i couldn't get into the bios through DP.

I think my next upgrade will be a 4tb hdd and a bigger ssd. thinking about switching to a 980ti at some point as well. Cheers for the advice bud.

How could you have let it get so dusty? :(

I hope you change your ways now ;)

P.s the top grill still seems to have a bit of dust.. :p

Good. Those are pretty good temps for GTA V. And thank you for posting pics and the update.

I need a bigger SSD too (want to put GTA V on it), maybe 8GB more RAM as with that game plus a few other things open, memory usage is showing 90%+. Been reading/posting on forum even more than usual lately because I'm without a video card. Waiting on KFA2 to replace it. :)
