DWP lies about sanctions

So he committed suicide due to his circumstances...? He knew that not taking his insulin would do.

Given the majority of NHS spending on diabetes is actually treating the effects of people not managing their condition properly it would be likely to assume he was just not managing it properly.

Like the tube driver recently.

So this article becomes apparent and the same night I watch a TV documentary on four people who are cheating the benefits system out of around £170,000 a year between them.

Honestly can't pick whats worse now, a white lie as part of a brochure or selling illegal steroids, goods, undeclared income and claiming housing benefit.

Who are the real bad guys again?

I had to go with a friend to the job center the other week, was sat waiting for quite a while and one thing I observed is how similar it was to school on homework day.

Nearly everyone who came in and was speaking to the advisors around me had forgotten something and we're rattling off excuses.

That and the amount of lies and ******** "have you registered for jobsearch?" "Yes I have and been applying"......
"the computer says there's no profile..."
"oh maybe it's my other email adress" *3 emails later* "I guess it must have gone through you know what computers are like I'll register again when I get home" ...

"OK. ..."

Amazing how you managed to hear all these conversations, were they shouting? Are you an expert lip reader? Did you manage to sneak in a parabolic mic?

They were refurbishing so I was sat in a group of chairs as a temporary waiting area in the middle of the advisors desks so about 6 ft away from from most people having their meetings....

Have you claimed JSA?

I'm not sure having it constantly looming over your head you could lose your benefit at any moment is very nice. In fact i've been there and it's really really not.

10 minutes late for your appt because genuinely bus was late? well.... potential sanction.

No room for error with them. Trust me. It's all gone a bit over the top now.

I am 39 with no qualifications and no, I've not ever claimed JSA.

I've just done what ever it takes to earn money, the fact there are people who cannot get jobs despite trying does not surprise me.

Seeing the state some of them turn up to interviews in, how they compose themselves, how they speak and act, the things they say etc.
It's no surprise they never get jobs and I do feel sorry for them.

There needs to be a proper coaching and self improvement course offered along with JSA for those that genuinely want to work, it would help the situation immensely.

don't leave things so close?

phone ahead when you release the bus has been delayed?

be a functioning responsible adult not a ****ing child?

Take your sensible life advice and responsible attitude elsewhere you heartless Tory lover.

These people are doing everything they can to find work.

Apart from get up on time, have a wash, dress appropriately, comb their hair, brush their teeth, actually apply for a job they have a chance of getting, turning up for interviews, being enthusiastic at said interviews etc.

What more are they supposed to do you animal?

Doesn't matter the drones at the Job Centre don't have logic or reasoning and you will probably be sanctioned for being late.

My father was late to an appointment because an interview overran and couldn't phone until after he came out, 2 week with no money and this is a guy who has never been out of work longer than 6 months total in his whole life.

If people are treated like a piece of **** expect them to start acting like one. Why should they have to dress up in interview clothes and give effort just to see some jobsworth that has the infinitesimally small amount of power that will wield it without reason.

The last time I was at job centre the guy behind desk looked down his nose at me, the documents we had came in a little plastic pouch and instead of asking me to get them out he picked it up by the corner with his fingernails like it was covered in **** and just dumped everything onto the desk, shuffled through the document he wanted and then shoved them all back at me across the desk so that I had to sort everything and put everything back.

He didn't once look me in the eye or engage with me, but yeah the people who use the job centre are totally the reason why.

They don't have logic or reasoning cause they expect you to be on time for your appointments?

Sorry but you are late you missed your slot. If your late for most things you'll be told you have to rebook for another time why should the job centre be any different?

Your father had an interview run over for so long that it over ran all of his traveling time for the next appointment he had and so couldn't phone until after he was already late?

He didn't have the common sense to say to the interviewer "excuse me but we seem to be overrunning a bit would you mind if I take a moment to make a phone call and inform my next appointment I will be late?"

You know like any sensible adult would?

He rides a motorbike and could have gotten to the job centre within 10 mins.

He is a working class man, asking the interviewer at a factory job to stop just so he can make a phonecall would have instantly meant he wouldn't get the job especially when over 300 people apply.

But yeah keep trying.

As an employer, I would not be happy if the candidate did not give me their full undivided attention during their interview, taking or making calls in a interview is a no no.

So when you or your staff are in a meeting, and it's taking longer than planned and you notice it's going to over run and cause you to be late with one of your paying customers you just don't phone them? And would expect your staff not to either and just as what happened to his dad lose the money from the customer you failed to make your meeting with?

The point was about an interview not sales meetings

That's the thing. The whole point of you giving priority to a Job Interview as opposed to a signing on at the job centre is so you can completely stop claiming JSA, not get sanctioned for 2 weeks and be in the same position again.

If I was an adviser at a Job centre and someone told me they cut their interview short so they could keep claiming JSA I'd think this guy didn't want to work at all!

Denmarks prison system has one of lowest re offending rates I think too, they had some island that functions like a town and make them work real jobs / learn skills so when they come out of prison they can get a job and not re offend.

Too forward thinking for the USA / UK though.

My mates has just done 4.5 years in the nick, came out a qualified joiner, sparky and railway technician.

Your mind blown? :D

If you are in Cat C or above you don't get let out of your cell or get nice stuff to eat if you ain't got a job, so there's plenty of incentive to get a job in the UK system.

In may anecdotal experience with the job market, those who have strong postive work ethic tend to always have job, those who think they are one person trade unions and everyone owes them a living don't. Those who can't be bothered to work just learn how to game the system.

As an employer, I would not be happy if the candidate did not give me their full undivided attention during their interview, taking or making calls in a interview is a no no.

I wouldn't want to work for an attention seeking idiot either..... If you have a problem with a candidate wanting to extend common courtesy to someone then you deserve all the "employees" you get.

If he doesnt make an effort why should you!

Thats the spirit, a fast track to success if ever there was one.
