Hi Guys,

My trusty ATi HD 4870 has started to fail so need to replace it with something new. On a budget of around £100 and been out of the game since the ATi card was a decent buy so what advice do you guys have. Main uses are Photoshop, Video Editing of Gopro footage and occasion gaming though nothing up to date.
Screen it powers is a Dell U2412M at 1600x1200px. Spec is a Q6600 at Stock speed with 4Gb of ram and a SSD as primary drive.

Thanks

I'd go for a used 7950-7970 good upgrade, and in the budget. I bought my 7950 for £60

Not a lot of point getting a 7950/70/280/x with a stock Q6600 (2.4GHz) I wouldn't of thought, even something like a 950 or 370 would probably be held back by it in gaming.

It depends on what software you use for your video editing as to which card (AMD/NVidia) would benefit you most.

Cheers guys. I use Sony Vegas for Videos forget which version but graphics cards just given up the ghost. Without taking the machine to pieces think I have a 550watt branded power supply. Fully understand a 7950/7950 may be throttled by my current cpu but once funds permit I will look to upgrading, just need something ASAP to get me back up and running. If I can get a steal on a 7970 then already money in the pot for further upgrades.
Thanks
