Oh to be rich!

I'd definitely prefer to drop that kinda money on a GTR.

What's so special about this car ?

Same here, its just another Naff Ford... :p

I would love a Datsun 240z S30

or Toyota Celica '77

You could probably get these cheaper including mods than what this guy is asking for that naff ford.

Do you really think the type of person that would spend £65k on an Escort is someone that thinks it's the best car for the money?

You can buy lots of things, even better things than rusty old Datsuns for the money but it's going to be purchased by someone that wants a BDA engined Ford Escort MK1. It's a rare and sought-after car with a huge motorsport pedigree and has a massive following. I wouldn't pay this much for an old car but someone will.

Same here, but there're maniacs out there who will and its thanks to them that many classical cars have survived.

£65k for a Ford is just crazy though...

People said they were mad to pay £15k 10 years ago but now they're selling their cars for £30-40k so I wouldn't call them mugs!

It's a classic car with huge motorsport heritage. You don't buy cars like this because they are "the best", you buy them because you want them.

If I one the lottery this is the kind of thing I'd be buying.

After I had found a Golf G60 Limited and bribed the owner to part with it though

These sort of cars are not aimed at Mr Average GB, they are aimed at Mr **** Loads of Cash, middle aged, childhood memories, put a bow on it and deliver it to my storage facility in ******** Jones. It's difficult to appreciate that level of spend but I know a few boys and girls who would see this as something to play with and sell for similar afterwards. To take a long for a weekend meeting at X or Y, to get a discussion going etc. If you have lots of free cash, I am talking 7 figures free cash then this is a decision of seconds. To the rest of us however, it's bloody madness for what is a really basic car underneath. Not that this matters of course.

I lol'd at the advert. Surely a forum/classic magazine would be a better place to sell it. How much would eBay take off that? Wonder if he accepts paypal.... :D

Another here, better price, better colour.

I realise classic fords are not everyone's choice, however, they are mine. Some of you guys would willingly blow half that amount on a new Golf that will halve in value in 2 years. Paying the right price, these will at least appreciate. Buying an investment that you can appreciate and enjoy is hardly foolish, and less foolish than the people who think a classified ad is always sold at sticker price....
