AMD's GPU market share drops again, even after the release of Fury X

It's a real shame that AMD didn't get the FURY X launch right, because when the card works, it competes and can beat the the 980ti in some situations.

Now come on, you know thats rubbish, since its release, the experts in here have put it around the 980, winning some, losing some, and the Fury non 'X' is around their own 390Xs performance. :p

I am a Liverpool fan:eek::p:o
Im a Liverpool fas as well :D

Imagine how much the high end nvidia cards would cost without a competitor. I'd have to move to console gaming!

This is the real issue here.

If AMD didn't exist, the 980ti wouldn't exist. It would be the TitanX for £1000, followed by the 980 for £500.

I know people love defending NVIDIA and making fun of AMD, but this is the reality we face unless AMD gain market share.

Amd Ceo already hinted that they will exit Pc market or smthng like that. They plan to move all their r&d to more profitable markets which include concoles etc So by 2017 i believe there will be less that 10 percent left of Amd in Pc market

No, they wouldn't, because there are plenty of people who simply wont spend a grand on a gpu, but would spend 500-600. If nvidia really go down the route of giving no performance benefit and increasing prices, they'll massively slash their own income.

I do find it funny, that people think if AMD went, and there was only Nvidia, then Nvidia would only release a new card every 10yrs or so, price em about 50k each, and only do about 1 driver per card, as no competiton anymore for them. :p

There would always be a product like the 980TI as nvidia would have allot of failed chips that didn't make the grade for the Titan. The 980TI doesn't exist because of AMD more like it exists because chips didn't make the grade for their Titan. Its just the basic binning process and nothing more.

Jen-Hsun Huang: You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Now evidently my suit wearing colleague informs me that that cannot be done. Ah, would you remind me what I pay you people for, honestly? Throw me a bone here! What do we have?
Number Two: Fanboys.
Jen-Hsun Huang: [pause] Right.
Number Two: They're loyal Fanboys.
Jen-Hsun Huang: Are they ill tempered?
Number Two: Absolutely.
Jen-Hsun Huang: Oh well, that's a start.

Dooooooooomed. Srsly.

I'm only half joking.

Once Pascal hits and nV have HBM2, with their greater R&D budget it's the same story as on the CPU side. Surely if AMD have less money to develop new tech, they can only fall further and further behind, unless nV decide to deliberately slow their own progress.

Wouldn't put it past nvidia, even if AMD make up an unlikely 10% from the 300 series on Q3, nvidia are still leagues ahead of them and as you say once Pascal and HBM2 hit... AMD need a bailout.
