We have any on here?

If so what life like?

Currently reviewing whether on not the contracting life is for me.

Life is good! Lots of roles around at the moment, your location is ideal for MK/Northampton which is a bit of a hot spot :)

I want to go in to contracting. Applied for some new roles recently not heard anything back from them.

I would realy like to move away from the legal industry in something more interesting. I hate that because i have experience in legal for an msp, that seems to be the only jobs specs i get through.

I would like a completely different industry to make things a bit more interesting.

Out of interest, do you need a CRB or higher clearance for most contract roles?

you probably need to connect to more recruiters on linked in

if you're only able to send off a few applications which you're not getting any feedback on then you'd be taking a big risk contracting - what do you do after your first 6 month contract finishes?

I guess it depends on your experience and qualifications, but I tend to get offered contracting roles multiple times a week at the moment (Manchester).

Not in a position to follow up on it at though and I'm currently happy where I am.

Depends. I am subcontracted to a big company and work in schools etc however as I'm never alone with kids I don't need one.

e; to be clear. I need clearance and security checks to do data centre work but I don't think that's what you're after OP?

I never needed one in the council working with Social Services and Foster Family's but I know a lot of Finance I.T contracts need them. A lot of the big money seems to be with the more advanced clearance - DV? I almost took a contract role but opted for a permanent 3rd line role instead.

I put my cv on jobsite and i got fair amount of interest the next day but i was being too picky as looking for a better role than i have at the moment so had to turn them down. There was one or two that i said i was interested in. I then a week later applied for about 5 roles on jobsite and got call back for one and hoping to get interview, but that is internal law firm perm role. I have not being putting enough effort in to it but going to start picking my effort now. Hopefully i get an interview with this other job. I do wonder if the jobsite roles end up getting 100s of applications.

IT contractor market is pretty buoyant in Edinburgh right now particularly in financial services. RBS is throwing money at people with the right skills at the moment.

Loads of contract jobs going in the city, I get bombarded on LI most weeks. A lot of contracts seem to end up being long term too (3+ years, we have some who have been contracting for over 10yrs).
