Need a really cheap car that's going to hopefully last a year while I get on the housing ladder. Don't want to spend more than £1500

Focus?

any other cars that you can recommend?

My Astra? Buy it for £300 and save some pennies? hahahha

Seriously though, can't go wrong with a focus. Or even a Mondeo in that budget.

Well, what kind of car do you need?

Large/small?
Economical/don't really care?
What mileage/sort of driving are you doing?
Any special requirements?

No point in recommending a 3 door supermini if you have 2 kids and need to fit a dog in the boot whilst doing a 400 mile motorway trip every weekend :p

2 years ago, I bought my Corsa 1.2 5 doors for £1500. Is still running strong, and parts are cheap to replace.

I paid £1125 for my Saab 9-3 (it was the cheapest half decent car I could find with cruise control). I then paid another £250 for various bits of work on it but since then it's served me well with only minor issues.

Petrol Mondeo/Focus/Civic then

Or a Mazda 6 - basically a Mondeo, but (IMO) better looking, and you'll probably get more for your money, but parts are a bit more expensive.

Not necessarily.

Fiancée's 53 plate facelift 316ti, whilst dog slow, cost £1200, it's in lovely condition and if you ignore the cloth seats isn't a particularly bad car all round.

Parking sensors, multifunction wheel, aircon (not climate unfortuantely), cruise, some really odd double-function parcel shelf, 4 brand new pirelli tyres all round and 80,000 miles.

Honestly couldn't find anything better around for the money at the time (February this year).

I've actually got a 2006 1.6 Vauxhall Astra for sale, since I ordered my Mercedes that would be under your budget. All sound condition and serviced etc. Let me know if interested ha.
