South Korea vs. North Korea

yea because south korea set up loud speakers to broadcast propaganda across the border after 2 of it's soldiers died to land mines or got injured by them, I forget.

NK opened the gun towers a few days ago so SK knew there would be an exchange coming sometime in the next few days.

It's not a big surprise attack like the media would have you believe

Setting up loud speakers to broadcast propaganda, talk about asking for it!

SEOUL, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- North Korea has reopened shooting posts near the demilitarized zone and has increased target practice for guns aimed at the South's propaganda loudspeakers.

North Korea has threatened retaliation after South Korea began its propaganda campaign across the DMZ on Aug. 10 as payback for land mine explosions that critically injured two South Korean soldiers. North Korea has denied any involvement.

North Korea's border guards typically close the shooting posts but when they do open, South Korea interprets the move as a signal to prepare for an exchange of fire.

No oil reserves or giant poppy fields ;)

I reckon conflict has been avoided primarily due to the scale of humanitarian crises that would result in the North collapsing. The economic impact to South Korea would be like the re-unification of Germany x 100.

Oh yeah, there's a few reasons. Seems like just waiting in the hope NK eventually "normalizes" somewhat is more preferable than looking to start anything that would no doubt end in carnage.

Always viewed the problem of North Korea as the biggest mistake in the last 100 years. Really should had sorted them out before they got nukes.
NK has never been a problem.
The choice was either defend themselves with nukes, or have the west attack them and install a puppet government and western controlled central bank.
The only problem with NK is our own governments.
