I have 3 Hazro IPS monitors that I bought from OC's.

Two of them are the older type that only have dual link dvi inputs, nothing else. The third has Display port, dvi etc.

I'm planning to buy a 980Ti, and I'm wondering how to connect them to it.

Obviously two of them will connect fine (DVI to DVI, display port to display port), but how to connect the third monitor that only has DVI input?

I've looked for a DPort->Dual DVI converter and I've only seen a couple of things that are all in the £50+ region - is that all there is?
 
The Gigabyte 980TI G1 Gaming features 2 DVI (1 DVI-I and 1 DVI-D), 1 HDMI & 3 DP. I think it is the only 980TI with 2 DVI ports.
 
From what I've read (and I may be wrong) theres no such thing as a true DP to dual link cable. There are plenty of cables that let you plug in a DL connector, but unless they have some electronics and some power, they wont put out the dual bandwidth that my monitor needs (I'm only going on what I've read today, as I said, I may well be wrong).

Those things that do have electronics and power are the ones that cost an arm and a leg.

I was in a similar situation, except all my screens were HDMI.

With a GTX 970 I could run two DVI to HDMI and one HDMI to HDMI.

With my GTX 980 TI I can run one screen using a passive HDMI to displayport cable, instead of HDMI to DVI.

I then tried to add a forth accessory screen using a passive DVI to displayport adapter, this didn't work at all. It wouldn't even work using it on its own. Now it may well have been faulty, but I don't know for sure.

I actually collected my 980 TI from OcUK in person and asked the sales guy about the display ports on the card. He said that they were all supposed to work with passive adapters, as long as the output resolution is 1080p or less.

I know there's no solution in my post, but some information from personal experience may shed a bit more light.

I was in the same situation with the hazro 27wc monitors.

The hazro monitors do NOT work with hdmi to dvi cables - i've tried many times with different graphics cards, overriding EDID with power strip, etc.

The only thing that worked was a £50 active DP to dual link DVI adapter that supported 1440p (it's a dell bizlink that runs off USB power):

** No hotlinked images **

Note that they're quite power hungry, and many users report problems running them from standard computer usb power ports, so I've had mine plugged into a 1.5A sony USB phone charger.

** No competitor links **

** No trading outside the Members Market **

I've just been in touch with gigabyte in MIlton Keynes directly by phone, and they have said that only one of the dvi outputs on the Gigabyte 980TI G1 Gaming is actually dual link - the dvi-i is a single link interface ?

Thanks for the offer Rick - I haven't decided to buy the card yet. ebay it if it's collecting dust :)

Both DVI ports are dual link. The little genius you spoke to would have guessed that the D suffix meant dual link :p

I'm 100% sure both are dual link.
DVI-I is digital + analog meaning that you can use a DVI to VGA adapter.
DVI-D is digital only.

In our spec you can check that the DVI-I is indeed dual link.

I believe that must have been the confusion.
 
Thanks guys. I took the plunge after what you'd said, and am happy to confirm - for anyone else thats looking - that both outputs ARE dual link.

I have all three monitors here up and running, 2 DVI's + HDMI :)

I was certain it was. I checked our internal documentation for spec and double checked with our PM before posting.

I thought so too and requested it to be updated to be more clear. It should be updated soon.
 
As soon as I can find a full cover waterblock to fit it, I'll be as happy as a dog with two di ....err happy as Larry :)
