Anyone know if it's possible toget Windows 8.1's 'Online Only' sync option back in Windows 10? I want files to sync up to one drive in the sync folder, but NOT remain on the local machine...

Just tried out oDrive, but it doesn't appear to do online only. Basically I have folder full of 5MB+ BMP files that I want to use as desktop background source. However, I want to have local reference folder so that my desktop shows the images that are on my cloud storage, NOT local. Is this even possible? I know it means each time my desktop changes it would have to sync hte file - I'm really just curious to see if it can be done...

Officially, no. Microsoft have removed the feature.

But there is a way to map OneDrive as a drive letter, which will give you full Online Only access to files.

Edit: Sodding midnight forum wobble tripple posting . Sorry.

In Odrive the most you can do is right click the system tray icon and choose to never download so that your files won't be stored on your local drive.

Yeah I saw that. Do they however show in the local oDrive folder as a link?

Awesome Skeeter. I'll try that using this link tonight!

Check to see that they have actually uploaded and that the files work.

As for Odrive, the files you haven't downloaded are still visible in the Odrive folder.

Yeah but what I want is to be able to cut/paste files/folders into the cloud folder in Windows, and have them upload online and be online only, essentially deleting them locally.

Mapping OneDrive as a network drive has been a complete failure. Settings hangs and crashes if you try to point the slideshow image source to a mapped drive, and accessing and uploading/download to/from the drive is painfully slow, depsite being on 11Mbps up and 160Mbps down.
