I have just installed a cooler master seidon in my PC but while gaming my i5 4690k is getting to 100C. Straight after it then drops to 35/45c. I am not sure if I have my fans placed correctly. I am using 2 fans on the cooler, one sucking case air into the cooler, the other is fixed to the rear of the case and cooler unit, blowing the air out into the room. I am not sure if this is correct.... Should the rear most fan be sucking in from the room blowing air over the cooler itself? Can someone give advice how the 2 fans should be placed?

It sounds more like you need to remove and re paste it before worrying about fans.

Once youve done this i would leave the fans as is (check they are definatly the right way round it can be confusing)

thnx for advice

as per advice i reseated the cooler and it worked a lot better. temps went to idle 34C and under load were hitting 73-77C. still thought it a bit high so i changed fans around. now have fan pulling air into case through radiator from outside and other fan in the top of my corsair carbide spec 03 sucking hot air out! also cleaned off the bog standard coolermaster thermal grease that came with the cooler and used some nice new gelid extreme. system is now running quietly and a lot cooler! idles at 23-27C and under load playing things like witcher hits a max of 67C with average being 56C. also ran prime for 30 mins and max it hit was 72C!!!!!!! amazing cooler when coupled with good airflow and thermal paste!

Which CPU is it?

its a i5 4690k...... running at 3.9 at moment, havent ocd it until cooling was ok! its on an msi z97 gamer3 mobo (this was enough for me as i have no interest in running gpus in sli.
as an update the cooling is now steady and quiet idleing at 23-27C, when gaming its maxing at 61C. prime95 gets to 67c. all running quietly too.
i know i could have used a more expensive mobo, but this does job fine for me coupled with an msi gtx970 gamer card.

So it's sucking in dust. The reason I comment is because I am looking at buying one of these, but I want it to expel the air that has been filtered via the intake fan at the front of the case.

not really! i have tried it sucking into case and blowing out and find it is def better drawing air inwards and then another fan expelling from top of my corsair case. the rear of the case where the seidion draws the air in has a filter over the vent so i just keep this clean. after running since mid summer i find the inside of case is still almost dust free and only a slight build on the filter itself. the fans and the seidon filter are still clean and have not yet needed a clean. am quite happy with the cooler, but please note that my case is situated ontop of a desk so is not drawing dusty air from floor level. hope that helps!
