I need a tablet purely to watch TV and movies on the go for the train and plane etc.

Needs to just have a very good quality screen and SD card slot so I can put my shows on it from my PC

Doesn't need to have good battery life as can just get portable charger

Looking for something that I can get cheap as possible with good branded cases screen protector erc

A lot of Sony tablets have been turning up cheap recently which come with good screens. You could get a generation back (Z2) and for movie playback you'd not notice the difference. I own a Gen 1 Tab S 10.5 right now and while it's CPU is a bit of a weird one, the screen is absolutely glorious (the resolution is insane on this thing) and has some insane resolution like 2500x1600. If you can get one for cheaps this would be good too, brightness is terrific.

Thanks exactly what I wanted to hear. But isn't resolution too big tho? Doubt my 1080p movies would look THAT gold upscaled to 1600p how much would you ballpark a Second hand unit for and also how do they compare against the £100 10.6" tablets eg fusion5 etc?

Cheers

If you really want a good tv/movie viewing experience, go for a tablet with an OLED screen. Stuff looks lush on my Tab S 8.4

Yes even youtube 1080p looks good on a 2k screen. All depends on how far you are from it. And as the screen and pixels are so small and tight it will still certainly look great.

Bit expensive (maybe not anymore) but agree with Krooton on this one. Tab S 8.4 is the perfect size, not too big or small and screen is amazing.

Use it to watch my series on the train and easily outshines anyone else's.

Comes with SD card slot so can put loads on at a time.

£230 is the cheapest at the mo, I was lucky enough to get it when they were doing a cashback deal, so my old Tab 7.7 took £100 off the price :D
