Dusseldorf in December

Mrs want's a holiday to Dusseldorf in December (beginning of) for the Christmas markets and such. Probably around 4 days over a weekend.

Has anyone been or can offer an insight into the area please? (Hotels, places to go , eat etc)

The thought of some nice German beer and som sausagies whilst she looks around the markets appeals to me

Only advice I can offer is go to Prague if you have not been before

Great city - you won't regret it. Some super hotels for very good value for money too (Melia, Hyatt Regency and Intercontinental).
