Ashley Madison user accounts leaked online

Hmmm not sure that link works right.

1. My email doesnt come up for Adobe
2. If you try known emails from the press reported as been listed on the Ashley Madison leak they come up with nothing.

1: Mine does. :(
2: It won't show the Ashley Madison email addresses (to stop absolutely anyone being able to check if your email address was listed and AM), but will notify your registered (and verified) email address if if they appear in the leak.

...and if you try a known email reported by the press as been in the Madison leak then it comes back as no leak.

Thats the thing though. Thats the one that was linked before.

It doesnt come up for Adobe for my email and it should (Ive checked elsewhere and my email was defintiely leaked) and if you try a known email reported by the press as been in the Madison leak then it comes back as no leak.

This was always going to be a huge incident given not just the scale of the number of accounts impacted by the Ashley Madison breach (well over 30M), but the sensitivity of the data within it. However the interest has surprised even me – I loaded the breached data into Have I been pwned? (HIBP) about 8 hours ago and I’m presently seeing about 30k visitors an hour to the site. I’ve had a commensurate number of media and support queries such that I just can’t respond to them all individually so I’m putting together this Q&A instead.

One very important point first: HIBP will not expose any Ashley Madison data to the public. I wrote about this last month in anticipation of the Ashley Madison data being leaked and I stand firm on that today. Even though there are now multiple sites making it easy for anyone to check any email address, as someone very aptly said yesterday “you don’t want to be that guy” – the one who could be the channel through which information is learned that has a serious adverse impact on peoples’ lives.

I reckon divorce lawyers are missing a trick if they're not already searching that database for wealthy people and getting in touch with the spouses...

I mean it seems there were people dumb enough to sign up with official government, military e-mail addresses etc... thousands apparently... should easily be able to find a few goldman sachs, morgan stanley etc.. e-mail addresses in there

so some ocukers used the site, just curious did you ever meet anyone from it?

I heard some so called fact that 85-95% of the sites users were male, and thousands of the female profiles were fake so it's basically a big scam

First uk divorce starting on back of this. Some firm of laywers has already reported one new client who is filing for divorce based on husbands name been on the list.

The hackers made that easier. They released the details based on email domain in sections to make life easy :)

Quite a few bankers and government officials. About 200 at IBM.

I presume that first one though is some wife contacting her solicitor - would be interesting to see if any solicitors actively seek out clients on the back of this... there are enough dodgy firms out there chasing accidents, PPI etc..

I read 85% male :D
12 million were fake / dud email accounts.

maybe it's harvesting emails to be sold in bulk to spammers

I'm curious, why is there a sudden surge in hacking lately? from Sony to this... and why wasn't all this taking place 5 - 8 years ago or so or regular occurrences.

What is the reason that it feels or appears that everything is getting hacked nowadays unlike the past... As all I ever seem to hear these years is such and such has been compromised/breached/leaked/stolen. You name it.

Funny how the press seems to be accepting that Michelle Thomson, Scott Mills and Tony Blair's emails were all added on there by hoaxers?

I wonder how many "normal" husbands will get away with "honest, my email has been added by somebody else?

heres the hack map of ashley madison users
