Is August a good time to buy a Les Paul?

Hey,

Just noticed lots of price reductions on Gibson guitars currently.
One guy I spoke to in a guitar shop reckoned that August is the best time to buy because this is the only time any price cuts are agreed by Gibson before the 2016 models come out in September.

Any truth in this, or am I okay to save up a bit more instead of rush in with my credit card?

Yes, only if you want a new one.

Although 2015 is not really desirable from the general guitar crowd. I'd try find a 2014 stock if I were in your shoes which should be just as cheap and more traditional Les Paul spec and design.

The good and the bad is that 2015 did not sell well and so you might be able to get a good bargain if you don't mind that wider neck, the brass nut, the E-tune, the new logo and did I say wider neck?

I'm actually quite interested in the e-tune. I like the idea of that, even though a lot of people slate it.
 
August and September is the height of the Gibson birthing season. Wild Gibson's will mate in the spring with the offspring born after a few months gestation, just in time for the Christmas period.

The new model will be released and they go "normal" price.

How much faff ? God forbid if you lose the locking piece.


This is bargain of the week if you are near London.

2015 True Historic of the same spec is about £6k, below is pretty much a USA line Standard money.

I was told by GuitarGuitar that the best time to sell my Les Paul would be just after all the kids got their GCSE results and he was right.
Lots of kids are promised toys if they do well.
 
The wider neck on the 2015 is just perfect. It's like it was designed specifically for me. The e-tune is meh though.

If you want one then get one now as rumour has it hat they are going back to the old neck but keeping the e-tune.
