So my AC68u died and PC world just offered me a refund as i purchased it from there a year ago in a rush. Same thing i needed a router fast and that was the only "decent" one on the shelf. So after getting it home i had the task of setting it up. (this thing is painfully slow to browse pages on) plus every time you change a setting it sits there "saving" for about 45 seconds (annoying) to top it all off it does not support VPN on IOS or android !!!! Yes a £230 router does not support VPN on ios or android devices only windows and linux. I have just spend the last hour on the phone to their tech support who have told me the "slow laggy" interface is because its a top end router LMAO ! my asus router knocked spots off this so much so i want to return it but PC world policy wont let me :( i purchased it this evening and gutted that i grabbed it in a rush. its ugly so cheaply made and lacks major features, slow and bloody hot to top it off its Massive and has a power brick the size of an actual brick. I need to get rid of this and grab an asus router again so gutted. Has any one ever had success taking something back to PC unwanted ?
I did ask the sales guy if it had the same features and he grunted a yet but i guess it will be his word against mine. As he did say it had the same features yet it lacks something important to me.

Why the hell cant you take it back and just say you don't want it. Thats what receipts are for? I cant see how you cant return it. Its barely been in your possession for a day ?

You are better off buying something from Argos....

If it's been opened they won't let you return it unless it's faulty. I would pursue the mis-selling route, just say you asked the sales guy if it had the same features and he said yes, emphasing the fact you would not of bought it otherwise.

I would also take some proof it's lacking those features compared to the Asus, it's the only way your going to be able to return it now, unless it develops a fault.

Under 28 days with receipt you can refund it no questions asked. Ask for a manager, if they don't oblige ask for their manager etc etc. they will refund it to save a scene.

They will only do that if it's unopened. You can't open it, use it and return it just because you changed your mind. The manager can do at his discretion but is not obliged too and I doubt they will on a £230 item.

It appears you are correct. Get it boxed up and get it sold on eBay, you'll take a bit of a hit but you deserve that for spending £230 on a router in the first place....

Unfortunately I'm speaking from past experience.

Also even though they only put 21 days on their receipts and website their company returns policy is actually 28 days.

I'm not sure why they get away with putting 21 days, but thats Currys/PC World for you.

Cheers for that ;) well i thought it must be good if it cost that much lol, However i have returned it. apparently they are not aloud to test an item that has an electrical fault.so i said it has an electrical fault and keeps tripping the RCD switch in my house at that point the guy said i can give you a refund with no question asked :D (of course it did actually have a fault :p )

swapped it with an Asus RT-AC87U and what a difference. firstly i can now use the VPN function and the interface is massively quicker. So little tip if ever taking stuff back to PC world, I dont usually buy there but when my router died i just wanted another there and then.

Any way all sorted thank god what a nightmare that company is. I guess buying online has the massive advantage of the distance selling rules.

tbh the guy did not check inside the box lol, I just said its got an electrical fault and he chucked it on the counter behind him and gave me my money back lol, I then purchased the asus
