I need a laptop as my job doing 14 hours night shifts security and my tablet not very good and limited on what you can do.

So I need a laptop mostly for games but I am limited to one store due to the credit I have with them and don't have cash right now to look around :(

So with £1200 max I got it down to two laptops but not sure what one would be better?

MSI GP60 Intel® Core™ i7, 8Gb RAM, 1TB Storage, 128Gb Solid State Drive, with 2Gb GTX 940M Dedicated Graphics

or

Acer VN7-591G Intel® Core™ i7 Processor, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD Storage, 15.6 inch Laptop, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M 2Gb Dedicated Graphics

Only thing I see is the acer has the 960m.

Thanks for any advice.

Have a look at the Asus G551JW if it's available from your store. I have one for light gaming and it does very well and is well built. It has the 960m and plays games well even GTA V runs fairly well.

I got a bit extra in about 6 weeks time so could use cash and buy from any shop.

Just looking on ocuk now see what they got lol.

Is the ASUS ROG G551JW-CN080H any good looking about £1000 cash when I order something.

Thanks.

17" laptops invariably are not light. As per the OP.

People say this often. Personally, I don't think today's 17" laptops are that heavy, particularly if you have a good rucksack for it.

Though I would say it largely depends on other things you may be carrying and the methods by which you travel around. If you are getting in a vehicle of some sort and only walking small distances, weight is really a non issue. At least when all in it's only around 4Kg.

That's what I'm using at the moment. It's a great machine and I would recommend it over the other two you mentioned. It's a nice balance between performance and size and has decent build quality and is very quiet compared to other machines.

Each to their own, that decision is the OPs. Personally I'm happy with a 2kg 15" MacBook. Perfect blend of performance and size/weight for my uses. I wouldn't recommend it as a Windows gaming laptop however.

The other think to keep in mind if that weights don't tend to include the PSU, and a 4kg+ 17" gaming laptop will also have a large and hefty brick.

My issue is I ride a motorbike to work so less weight would be better but I have so much gear in my backpack it don't really matter lol.

Looking at money again I mite have still use this certain store in a about 5 weeks but I can go bit higher so was looking at the MSI GE62 2QF (Apache Pro)-021Uk.

Also seen the MSI GE70 and has only got a 960m 2GB but have bigger screen.

I own Gigabyte-P34G-V2

14inch screen
860m with 4GB
16GB ram
I7

Runs everything on high settings 60fps+

I ride a motorbike to work everyday, This laptop is super thin and light (same as a mac book)

Portable gaming when I need it or I hook it up to my 27" screen at home and use it as a desktop gaming rig.

I would NOT recommend a 17" screen, 14" screen is absolutely fine if you want portable gaming.

Thanks.

I will take a look in a shop about the 14inch could be bit small for me.
I as will using unity3D editor and that needs bit of space on sceen lol.

Cheers.

I also use unity engine and screen size has never been a problem and if im honest I would buy a monitor or use a existing monitor for unity or any type of development.

When editing or developing I use my laptop for tutorials and my 24inch monitor for the main screen (unity).

Honestly if you want to carry a laptop around on a motorcycle like I do don't get anything bigger than a 15inch screen, it will be just too heavy and big.
