Flamethrowers at the ready...

Stuck in the bath? Drape a towel over the edge so the spider can crawl out and then shake it off outside

Coax the spider onto a long stick or ruler and take outside. Vacuum up old webs

I won't be doing any of the above to a 12cm monstrosity
The spiders, which can grow up to 12cm in length

Still recall one night I was happily browsing the forums when I heard a tapping noise coming from the PC case. I figured a cable might be hitting one of the fans so opened up the case to inspect.

It was a spider, the fan's airflow was causing the web to bounce and the spider tap against one of the blades. It's a wonder the bigger didn't get chipped up!

Had loads of whoppers in our house last year. This was one of the first that I caught. There were bigger later but I'm not that interested that I thought to take more pics.

That's a lid from a CD-R spindle for reference. Also it has a leg missing. Dem mandibles doe..

I've had some huge ones this year. Last week I had to remove an extremely large one. When I tried to trap it, the little blighter actually ran towards me.

lol just had to say I have about 4 empty cd-r pots lying around the house, whole family are trained in slapping it on top and cardboard underneath and disposed in sink or outside.

These pots are great since you can see if you caught the bug in the first place!

Couple of weeks ago the missus opened the loft hatch and totally freaked out as there was a huge spider just sat on it.
I then proceeded to get my pointy nose pliers to grab it by a leg and throw it outside - I don't like to kill anything apart from wasps.
When I tried to grab it it fell off the loft hatch and legged it towards the missus who was peeking out from a small gap in the door. I managed to grab it.
Oh how we laughed.
Seriously though, I don't usually bother but this thing was huge.

I had one a few months back run into a wall and curl up, I can only presume it stunned itself.. Should have gone to specspecspecspecsavers....... :o

My hand held Dyson is great for extracting spiders and other bugs. They come out a bit Dizzy but unharmed.:D

Put tights over the end of the hoover, suck it up and then the hoover off outside the window/door :)

Still though....i think I would let my older cat go at it first. If he doesn't get it, long hoover arm out. If that doesn't work.....time to move out.
